Govt. rejects 'Thaksin appointment' speculation

The Sri Lankan government rejected media speculations that former Thai premier Thaksin Sinawatra was to be appointed one of its economic advisors.




Describing the speculations as baseless, a foreign ministry statement said such speculation would not any way affect the excellent relations that exist with Thailand.

Foreign minister Rohitha Bogollagama telephoned his Thai counterpart Kasit Piromya yesterday and assured no room would be allowed for jeopardizing the bilateral relations, it added.
