Government introduces new set of rules for Sri Lanka's reality TV programmes
The Sri Lankan government plans to bring in a new set of rules with regard to broadcasting of reality musical programmes on TV channels and radio stations from the beginning of the next year.
Prior to broadcasting such programmes the respective channels must obtain the clearance from the Public Performance Board, said Mr. Asoka Serasinghe the chairman of the PPB.
There is a huge competition among TV and radio channels on reality musical programmes and to get the competitive edge, some channels telecast unsuitable musical and visual contents which need to be filtered by the Board, the chairman added.
With the new rules visuals and lyrics of the songs to be telecast will be filtered by the Board, he further said.
